Friday Evening Digest

29th May 2026

Dear Delph Member

Your club can be seen as a small club supporting dinghy racing. It is much more than that.

In the last few weeks we have seen Delph members:

Adam Savage and crew trailing their 20 foot keelboat up to Sunderland to compete in, and win, the SB20 Northern Area Championships – more details here

Angela Sweeney, John Haines and Graham Crabtree sailing (non-competitively) in the coastal waters of Croatia – more details here

Graham Clow and his crew, Tony Wright, travelling with their Fireball to the Lake District to compete in the Coniston SC Regatta – more details here

Wayne Atherton and Angela Sweeney visited Staunton Harold to compete in the Miracle Open – more details here

Our ILCA sailors have been busy at:

Hollingworth Lake – more details here

Blackpool and Fleetwood – more details here

West Lancs Yacht Club

Our cadets have been busy with Junior Travellers at Hollingworth Lake – more details here

Billy Morris won the Largs One Design regatta – more details here

Chris Pickles and Family and the Hayfields have just finished the Feva Nationals in Pwllheli – more details here

Other activities taking place at Delph:

The Radio Control Laser section gained new members (some from as far away as Southampton!) and have been trialling other classes of RC yachts (Dragon Flite and Marblehead).

Our trainers have been busy with RYA Sailing and Power Boat courses as well as offering more informal refresher and improver courses.

Cadet club is popular – taking place on Thursday and Friday evenings. Look for more information on WhatsApp DSC Cadet Club

Social sailing is on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings (but always dependant on having volunteers to man the safety boats). Look for more information on WhatsApp DSC Members Noticeboard

Delph is certainly getting busy and more active!
