Happy New Year
It’s all happening at Delph SC!
We’re not closed, just not sailing!
I’m there most Sunday afternoons (and sometimes Sunday mornings)!
Call in and have a brew and a chat
See what happens during the closed season.
See if there is anything you can help with!
At the moment we have no organised racing until the new season begins around Easter time.
That doesn’t mean there is no one at the club.
We use this closed season as an opportunity to do essential maintenance and improvements to the club; you may remember being surprised by the newly refurbished changing rooms at the start of the 2025 season.
This year our major task is renovation of the bar, cellar and galley areas, along with introduction of Food Hygiene certification.
We have got other smaller but equally important jobs to do around the club house and grounds.
Such as:
• Audit of the boat park to identify owners, ensuring all boats are registered, insured, safely berthed, tied down and not causing problems for others.
• Bringing ashore of the racing marks and mooring buoys for inspection and maintenance.
• Removal of any unwanted or unowned scrap – trailers, trolleys, masts, booms, windsurfers etc.
• General tidy of the club grounds.
• Relaying of flags between clubhouse and car park
• ……and many other smaller jobs
There are other items which need some investigation for future improvements to the club:
• We used to have a weather station accessible from the club website which is no longer working. Should we invest in a new one?
• Compare our webcams with those available at other clubs (have at look at Abersoch beach or Leigh and Lowton SC). Should we upgrade our cameras?
If you can help with any of these jobs please get in touch with me.
Cheers,
Graham Crabtree
