NOTICE OF RACE
1.0 RULES
1.1 Racing will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (2021-24).
1.2 Rights to use Names & Likenesses: Competitors automatically grant to the organising authority without payment the right in perpetuity to make, use and show any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television of or relating to the event.
1.3 The sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be posted on the official notice board located by the registration desk in the clubhouse.
1.4 In the event of a contradiction between this notice and the sailing instructions, the sailing instructions will apply.
2.0 ADVERTISING
Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the Organizing Authority.
3.0 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The regatta is open to all single hander boats with PY between 940 and 1400..
3.2 Eligible boats may enter on the day
3.3 Competitors under the age of 18 years at the time of the event shall be required to complete and lodge the parental/guardian’s consent form included in the entry form with the Race Committee prior to the start of racing.
3.4 Competitors should note that DSC implements the RYA Racing Charter and that they [competitors] will be required to undertake to sail in compliance with the Charter which can be found at the front of the RYA rule book (Racing Rules of Sailing 2021-2024).
4.0 FEES
Entry fee is £10.00.
5.0 SCHEDULE
5.1 Registration will be at DSC from 09.00 a.m. until 10.30 am on 16th September 2023.
5.2 Competitor briefing wil be held at 10:30 am, 16th September outside the clubhouse.

6.0 VENUE
6.1 The venue is Delph Sailing Club, Longworth Road, Egerton, Bolton, BL7 9TS.
6.2 Competitors and their families shall be deemed to be members of DSC for the duration of the competition.
6.3 Boats shall be kept ashore in a designated area.
6.4 Location of the Club is shown on the web site of the host Club https://delphsailingclub.com/
7.0 THE COURSES
The courses to be sailed will be as defined in the Supplementary Sailing Instructions.
8.0 SCORING
8.1 The Low Point System of RRS Appendix A will apply.
8.2 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
8.3 The scores for the 4.7/ILCA4, radial/ILCA 6 and standard/ILCA 7 fleets will be calculated using standard PYs.
8.4 All classes will start simultaneously and the race committee reserve the right to finish slower dinghies early and use average lap time to calculate results.
8.5 If three races are sailed, one discard will be allowed
9.0 RADIO COMMUNICATION
Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communications that are not available to all boats.
10.0 PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded depending upon the numbers of competitors in the fleet, including a class, youth and ladies prize
11.0 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.
12.0 RISK STATEMENT
It must be recognised that sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the open day, you agree and acknowledge that:
- You are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and you accept responsibility exposing yourself to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the open day;
- You will comply at all times with the instructions of the Open Day Co-ordinator particularly with regard to handling of boats, wearing of buoyancy aids and the wearing of suitable clothing for the conditions;
- You accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by your own negligence;
- You will not participate in the event whilst your ability to skipper or crew a dinghy is impaired by alcohol, drugs or whilst otherwise unfit to participate;
- The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, as can be practically provided in the circumstances.
13.0 INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £3,000,000 per incident or the equivalent.
14.0 FURTHER INFORMATION
15.1 Boats travelling to and from Delph SC should be washed down to prevent the risk of transmission of any water borne contaminants
